Most dogs can swim. Almost no dog can swim once it's tired, panicked, or caught in a current. The PupFloat™ Shark Fin Dog Life Jacket keeps your dog's head above the waterline when their legs give out — and gives you a handle to lift them out in one clean motion.

Who it's for

Short-nosed and heavy-chested breeds sink fastest — French Bulldogs, Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers, Dachshunds and Corgis all fight their own body shape in water. Puppies and senior dogs tire in minutes. And even strong swimmers get into trouble in surf, currents, or a pool with no shallow end.

If your dog is around water at all — pool days, the lake, the beach, a boat, paddleboarding, or a dock — this is the difference between a swim and an emergency.

📏 Full size chart

Measure the chest. Run a soft tape around the widest part of your dog's ribcage, just behind the front legs. Chest circumference is what determines the size — not weight, not breed.

Size Chest circumference Typical dogs
XS 33–43 cm / 13–17 in Chihuahua, Yorkie, Toy Poodle, small puppies
S 43–56 cm / 17–22 in Dachshund, Shih Tzu, Mini Schnauzer, Jack Russell
M 56–69 cm / 22–27 in French Bulldog, Pug, Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Corgi
L 69–81 cm / 27–32 in Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, English Bulldog
XL 81–91 cm / 32–36 in Labrador, Golden Retriever, Boxer, Husky
XXL 91–107 cm / 36–42 in German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Great Dane, Mastiff

Between two sizes? Always go up. A slightly loose jacket can be tightened with the straps. A tight one restricts your dog's chest and won't be worn twice. Allow 1–3 cm for measuring variance.

The chin panel is the whole point

Most vests just add buoyancy to the body — the head still dips. The PupFloat front float panel tips the head back so the muzzle stays clear of the surface, even when your dog stops paddling.

Get them out without going in

The handle is stitched through the reinforced spine panel. Lift steadily and straight up — no leaning over the edge of a pool or a moving boat.
